Walder works for WEEK-TV News serving the station as a First Alert Meteorologist. He states that his love for the weather began when he was a kid which was when he was afraid of lightning and thunderstorms. While growing up in the suburbs of Philadelphia he was exposed to all kinds of weather which range from wintertime Nor’easters and blizzards to “scary” summertime storms.

He states that he got over the fear and later in life during high school, he made the decision to study meteorology in college after seeing a thunderstorm off in the distance while at a friend’s house. This lightning strike was what sparked him to begin his journey to becoming a professional meteorologist.

He began his career interning at WWAY located in Wilmington, North Carolina in the summer of the year 2011. Just ten days after his graduation he went on to serve WVVA located in Bluefield, WV, as a Weekend Meteorologist. Later on, he was privileged to get promoted to Morning Meteorologist where he remained until his move south. There, he went on to work for WJHL located in Johnson City, Tennessee in 2014 as a Weekend Meteorologist.

Aside from this, he delivered the forecasts for northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia for about three years still at WJHL. This was before working for ABC Tri-Cities and later leaving the station to join WEEK-TV in Peoria back in the year 2017. From then on, he has been in Illinois keeping viewers safe from severe weather winter storms, and everything that comes in between.

Back in the year 201, he was designated as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society. This happens to be the highest distinction given by the American Meteorological Society for broadcast meteorologists and is given to those who meet the scientific and communication standards of the AMS.

During his free time, he may be found trying out a new recipe in the kitchen or keeping up with his favorite sports teams. In addition to this, he is a die-hard Philadephia and Penn State fan. He also loves cheering on the Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State Football. This is in addition to being a huge animal lover and having a dog named Radar.
