Before joining the station he previously worked for two years at WTVC-TV NewsChannel9 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, as a reporter. Coincidentally another river city where he covered everything from natural disasters to social justice movements, and politics.
Once when Isaiah was little, he was told he should go into broadcast someday because they “get paid by the word.” That was a family friend’s subtle, half-joking way to say he wouldn’t stop talking. Years later, he took his affinity for conversation and turned it into an adoration for storytelling. Kim-Martinez initially honed in on sports reporting in college but decided to put focus on hard news work by the time he graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from UM.
While in school, Kim-Martinez also worked at two hometown stations in Miami at WSVN-7News in 2017 as an intern and later at NBC6 Miami as a sports associate producer up until graduation. He continues to be thrilled each day at the opportunity to cover Kentuckiana and provide a voice to the voiceless. During his free time, he loves to try new local foods. Isaiah is into just about every sport and he spends far too much money playing golf.
