Brown is the sports director for FOX 56 News. He brings over six years of sports reporting at the professional, college, and high school levels to Lexington. Before coming to Lexington, he began his start covering the SEC and South Carolina athletics in Columbia, South Carolina.
Mitch was also the lead sports anchor for his station on South Carolina women’s basketball’s run to the 2021 Final Four and Clemson’s run to the 2020 College Football National Championship. Being a sports director, his department earned an EMMY nomination for a one-time sports special on sports and social injustice.
Brown started his start in the sports field in Norfolk, Virginia, less than a year after graduating from ODU, working as a weekend sports anchor. He helped relaunch sports at the CBS affiliate, for three years covering the Washington Football Team and playing a key role in covering Virginia’s national championship in men’s basketball.
While working in Norfolk, Mitch was a part of two Outstanding Sports Broadcast awards from the Virginia Association of Broadcasters. During his free time, he enjoys hiking and checking out Kentucky golf courses, and new food spots across the area.
