In September 1980, he joined Cornell University where he attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology in May 1984. While still in college, he worked at WICB in Ithaca, New York where he served as a meteorologist and weather forecaster.

Hart serves as the Chief Meteorologist and is on air every weekday at 4, 5, 6, & 10 pm and on Local-7 at 6:30 & 9 pm at WEHT-TV based in Evansville, Indiana. Moreover, his forecast can be found every day in the Henderson Gleaner, Evansville Courier & Press, and Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer. He also owns the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) in 2006.
While still working at WEHT-TV, he also worked on the AMS Board of Broadcast Meteorology in 2005 and 2006. He has also won several awards and honors including the Mark Trail Award and Evansville Courier & Press Readers Choice Platinum Award. He also received the Emmy Award and Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels & Hopkins County Sheriff Certificate of Appreciation.
He kickstarted his journalism career working at WGRZ in Buffalo where he served as a weekend meteorologist/science reporter. Later in 1987, he joined WLKY in Louisville where he served as a morning news anchor and reporter. His next step was at NEWS 25 where he served as the Chief Meteorologist. Prior to working at WEHT/WTVW-TV, he worked at CNN where he served as a freelance meteorologist in 1994.
Wayne is an active member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation as well as Indiana Landmarks. Moreover, he is the local spokesperson for the Eyewitness News/Papa John’s Fan Club and is active in the Eyewitness News telethons for Santa Clothes Club and the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center.
