Buteau is an Investigative Reporter working at WFLA. Before joining the station, he served as an Investigative Reporter at WPRI for twenty-six years. His journalism career concentrates on dispelling the cliché, “life is not supposed to be fair.” He enjoys the chase and the digging and strives for results may it be standing up to bullies in government or the private sector, exposing wasted taxpayer money, or helping veterans get their promised benefits.
Throughout his career, he has revealed and assumed school bullying law that was obeyed after his report, prompted a local politician to give back thousands of dollars in a conflict of interest case, and exposed a fleet of government electric cars that were especially green. Additionally, he has reported numerous breaking news events, for example, hurricanes in New England and tornados in the Midwest and South, to Nor’easters. During the following week, he reported live from the city of Manhattan only hours after 9-11. Buteau was one of the first reporters on the scene of The Station nightclub fire that claimed 100 lives.
Buteau has won several awards, such as several Associated Press awards, two Emmys, and a Murrow. Most recently, he has revealed fraudulent government loans taken out in the names of Bay Area residents without their knowledge, helped frustrated veterans get VA benefits they earned while serving, and broke several new developments in the Piney Point environmental disaster.
