Valerie Sanderson is one of the main presenters of BBC World Service’s The Newsroom. Sanderson was a founding member of BBC News 24 when it debuted in 1997.

She attended St Andrews University before continuing her education at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She began her career at the BBC in 1985 as a producer on Radio 4’s Today programme. She has worked as a reporter for the Today show and the BBC’s Breakfast News. She was also a regular on the Plymouth-based Spotlight show beginning in 1989. In 1994, she assisted in the launch of Radio Five Live. Sanderson was one of the BBC News 24 launch presenters in 1997, and he could frequently be seen presenting the 1-4 pm slot on News 24 alongside Bill Turnbull or Chris Eakin. Sanderson was a regular on the BBC World Service’s World Briefing program. She is a regular on the BBC’s daily audio news podcast Newspod. World Briefing was replaced in April 2013 by The Newsroom, which Sanderson continues to host.
