He began his first gig on Television in Macon at WMAZ-TV. During that time, he worked as a reporter while attending college. From there he headed to Augusta, Ga to work at WRDW. While there, he was elevated to a news anchor and morning and noon meteorologist. In addition, he weathercasts live from “The Masters” golf tournament.

The Associated Press recognized his work as the “Best Weather” after he extended live coverage of Tropical Storm Floyd. From there, he moved to Oklahoma City to chase tornadoes for KFOR-TV. Much of his time was to warn people about dangerous and large-scale tornadoes.

After leaving KFOR-TV, he joined KLRT-TV in Little Rock to work as a chief meteorologist. There he built from the ground up the entire weather department.  He served covering ice storms and tornado outbreaks for five years. Bridges is a National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society member. Furthermore, the American Meteorological Society honored him with a seal of approval.
