Tara Lane is an American Meteorologist working for Queen City News in Charlotte, New York as a Chief Meteorologist a role she has held since May 2019. She joined the station in May 2018 serving as a Meteorologist.

Lane attended East Carolina University where he studied between 1994 and 1998. There, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication and Media Studies. While there, he also took a Minor in Spanish. Later on, he attended Mississippi State University where he studied between 1999 and 2003. There, he was taking a course in Broadcast Meteorology.

Lane works for Queen City News/FOX 46 News where she serves the station as a Chief Meteorologist. Her interest in the weather was sparked when he was growing up when a traumatic event took place in the area where she was raised. When she was about 8 years old, an F-3 tornado ripped the roof off her family’s house and caused severe damage to her community. She was very terrified of storms for many years.
She began her weather forecasting career at WITN in Eastern North Carolina where he was serving the station as a Weather Anchor and Producer. During her time at the station, he covered the fury of Hurricane Floyd. This happens to be one of the worst storms in North Carolina history.
After her move to Charlotte in the year 2001, she went on to become a Meteorologist at the start-up 24-hour cable news station, News 14 Carolina which is now known as Spectrum News. There, she worked for about 15 years and was involved in many hours of live, continuous coverage of everything from winter storms to hurricanes. Afterward, she spent about a year in Columbus, Ohio at NBC4 which was before returning to Charlotte and joining the team at Queen City News.
She is a proud member of the National Weather Association and has earned the National Weather Association Seal of Approval. Away from work, she enjoys volunteering in the community which is her top priority. In addition to this, she co-emceeds events for the Alzheimer’s Association and NC Chamber’s Women > A Force in Business conference. Aside from this, she enjoys visiting schools in order to talk weather and teach kids how to be safe during severe storms.
Additionally, she loves exercising, reading, and traveling which are some of her favorite pastimes. However, she states that the most important thing in her life spending time with her family. This is in addition to loving spending time with her husband, daughter, son, and rescue dog Rocky in the Charlotte Area.
