She went on to join the University of Alabama where he was a student leader and served in the Student Senate. There, he graduated with the Capstone in the year 1974. Flowers works with ABC 32 News/WNCF-TV where he serves the station as a Political Analyst. He brings his expert analysis during the annual sessions of the Alabama Legislature and every campaign year. He began a page in the Alabama Legislature at the age of 12 where he was working at the State Capitol throughout his high school years.
Later on, after his graduation, he returned home to Troy and entered a private business. He then began a successful career in insurance and real estate which he continues to date. Later on in the year 1982, he entered politics and was elected state representative from Pike County. This being his first race, he received the largest number of votes ever cast for any person in a political race in the history of Pike County. He then chose not to seek reelection in the year 1998 after serving about 16 years in the Alabama House.
Flowers later sustained a perfect attendance record in the legislature for about 16 consecutive years. The year 1988 saw his House colleagues pass a resolution naming him the Most Ethical Member of the House. Later on in 1992, he was voted by his colleagues as the Most Outstanding Member of the Alabama House of Representatives.
