Choi now works as a Sunday and Saturday Morning Anchor and Investigative reporter for WSB-TV in Atlanta Georgia. She joined the station on July 8, 2011, and has been working there ever since. After graduating from the University of Missouri, Choi started her professional career at WSRT-TV, in Lynchburg where she worked as a general assignment reporter. After a few years of service here, she moved to WVTM-TV, where she worked as a Morning anchor. Here, she even got the chance to be nominated for an Emmy Award for her special report called “Dirty Downloading”.
Later on, Sophia landed a job at KCBS-TV, where she started off as an assignment reporter and fill-in anchor before being promoted to weekday morning anchor. In 2001, she moved to Atlanta where she became a prime-time anchor for CNN Headline News. During her time there, Choi got the chance to cover breaking news stories including the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Wilma, and even the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Choi left the station in 2006 and traveled to Shangai, China for a speaking tour with the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
In 2007, she joined KVBC-TV, where she co-anchored First News 3 at Four and News 3 at Six with Kendall Tenny. Three years later Choi left this segment and began anchoring First News 3 at Four with Jeff Gillan and News 3 at Sic with Jim Snyder in 2010. With six months left in her contract, Choi was notified by KVBC on May 28, 2010, that her contract would not be renewed. From there, she now joined WSB-TV.
