Van der Sluis is a footballer working as a goalkeeper for Shelbourne since 16 June 2022 after signing for League of Ireland Premier Division club Shelbourne. He, later on, renewed his contract with Shelbourne on 30 November 2022 for the 2023 season. However, in June 2023, he left the club so that he could participate in the ITV2 series, Love Island season 10. It was later confirmed that he has left Shelbourne completely by Damien Duff who is the club’s manager.
Prior to Shelbourne, he was playing for Cymru Leagues club Bangor City where he was also the club captain from 2021 to 2022. He left the club in early 2022 after the club was stopped from playing matches by the Football Association of Wales. He had previously played for other soccer teams including Liverpool from 2010 to 2014. Prior to his tenure in Liverpool, he was a player at Manchester United from 2009 to 2010.

However, both Leah and Montell were eliminated on day 38, week 6 after they received the second fewest votes. Love Island is narrated by Iain Stirling and presented by Maya Jama. The series revolves around a set number of contestants living in isolation and surveillance in a villa in Mallorca.
