Brookman serves at WABC as a news reporter and weekend news anchor. She co-anchors the 5 PM, 6 PM, and 11 PM weekend newscasts on the station’s Eyewitness News. Before joining WABC, she served at WSB-TV (ABC) in Atlanta, Georgia as a weekend news anchor for 9 years. Before that, she worked for KFDM-TV in Beaumont, Texas, and WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina, as a weekend news anchor at both stations.
She has worked as an Olympic Reporter for 7 years. Brookman was the only local television journalist to report on the games from before Atlanta won the bid, until the Olympic bombing in the year 1996. She also reported on the ’92 games in Barcelona, Spain.
Brookman’s work as a reporter has also been international – his series of reports from South Africa, and Nelson Mandela’s release from a South African prison in the year 1990. She holds 3 local Emmy Awards, including statues for covering the aftermath of the fatal Valuejet Airlines crash in the Everglades, Florida, as well as for Olympic coverage.
