Surette serves KBTX as an evening news anchor/ executive producer. He’s responsible for popular franchises such as the weekly Restaurant Report Card and the Be Remarkable campaign. He has worked as an award-winning anchor, news photojournalist, executive producer, assignments manager, and news investigative reporter in local television news for over two decades. He’s originally from Beaumont-Port Arthur, Texas where he started his TV career and also graduated his high school.

Also, he has worked in Oklahoma City, North Carolina, Lake Charles, Louisiana, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Las Vegas. Surette took a short break from television news to join the American Red Cross in 2011. As a Regional Director of Communications, he spent countless hours assisting disaster victims across Oklahoma, Texas, and Mississippi. Presently, he continues to work as a Red Cross volunteer and board member.

Besides that, he’s also a board member and supporter of other non-profit organizations like Project Unity, Health For All, and I Heart Bryan. In the Brazos Valley, he works as an emcee and host of several events such as the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Hall of Honor Gala and the Hispanic Forum of Bryan College Station Scholarship Gala. Surette is also a 2018 graduate of Leadership Brazos.

He has been selected thrice for a regional Emmy and has been the recipient of two regional RTDNA Edward R. Murrow awards. He and the station were awarded the Texas Associated Press Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas Award in 2017 for an investigative report involving a local school district. Moreover, he has earned multiple awards for editing, reporting, and anchoring photography from the Oklahoma Associated Press, the Nevada Electronic Media Association, the Texas Associated Press, the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists, the Southeast Texas Press Club, and the Louisiana Associated Press.

In 2021, 2020, and 2019 he was named Best TV Personality in Bryan Broadcasting’s Best of the Brazos Valley awards. In The Eagle’s Readers’ Choice Awards, he was named Best Local Media Personality in 2021 and 2020. From Maroon Weekly, in the Best of BCS awards, he’s also won Best TV Personality in 2019. Surette has an Associate’s Degree in Personal Fitness Training and Exercises Science from Heritage College.
