He likes being involved and active in the community. Mayeda was a former board member working with the Lupus Foundation of Northern California and the annual emcee for the 5K Walk/Run. In addition to that, he raised lupus awareness at congressional meetings after traveling to Washington D.C to work with the Lupus Research Institute. He also spends time assisting LupusLA at events during the year. Mayeda earned the AMS Television Seal of Approval and he is an active member of the American Meteorological Society.
During his leisure time, he likes he serves at San Jose State Meteorology as a guest lecturer guiding the department’s broadcast meteorology minor program. He also assists Cal State East Bay in Hayward with meteorology-related courses.
