While growing up. he noticed a change in the wind and became interested in the weather. Every time there was a change of weather, he watched very carefully in an effort to save his sense of smell. Haswell grew up on a turkey farm and he has been very much interested in weather and broadcasting for quite some time. After graduating, his career began on the radio prior to making it to the TV at Canada’s Weather Network on “Good Morning Toronto.”
From there, he decided to pursue his dream of living and working in the U.S. He also worked in Rochester NY on Wake Up Rochester. During this time, he also tried to be a big comic actor which made I’m to study the art of improvisation at Toronto’s Second City Theatre. Furthermore, Haswell holds the endorsement of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society. He also holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval. In addition, he is an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. He is also a two-time Emmy Award Winner.
