She specifically, remembers when her curiosity for this craft started. In 2005 her family evacuated for Hurricane Rita and they sat in a hotel lobby for days. Her eyes were glued to the television watching the Reporters stand in intense conditions ready to bring his family constant information.
Peyton began her freshman year at The University of Texas at Austin in Honors Biology and walked across the stage her senior year with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. It took one elective class, a long talk with herself, and a leap of faith to learn the desire to be a journalist was still burning inside her.
Yager’s started her reporting career in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She then moved to Oklahoma City in 2019, where she covered the Johnson & Johnson opioid trial, Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign rally in Tulsa, and deadly tornadoes. Her last year in the Sooner State was dedicated to sharing the stories of Oklahomans deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic while pressing politicians for answers.
In March 2021, Peyton was honored to learn her dream of joining the FOX 4 team was coming true. During her free time, she is enjoying a large plate of Tex-Mex in this beautiful city or with her rescue pup Maci, cheering on her Longhorns.
