Noel Quinn is a British banking businessman who is the CEO of HSBC Group. On March 17, 2020, he was appointed as HSBC’s permanent chief executive, drawing a line under a seven-month search to find a new leader for Europe’s largest bank. 

He was appointed interim chief executive of the Asia-focused lender in August 2019 succeeding John Flint. Quinn has more than 30 years of banking and financial services experience, both in the UK and Asia, with over 27 years at HSBC. He has held various management roles across HSBC since joining in 1992.

Quinn was most recently Chief Executive Officer of Global Commercial Banking, having been appointed to the role in December 2015 and as a Group Managing Director in September 2016. He joined Forward Trust Group, a subsidiary of Midland Bank, in 1987 and in 1992 he joined HSBC when the Group acquired Midland Bank.
