Thompson is a sports director, reporter, and anchor at FOX23 News in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has over twenty years of covering Oklahoma sports and following it almost all of his life. Thompson joined the station as a sports reporter. After one year and seven months, he was elevated to a weekend sports anchor, a position he held for two years and seven months. Currently, he serves the station as the sports director. He is responsible for anchoring weekday sports segments and field anchoring 30-minute high school football weekly shows and college football pregame and postgame shows.

After graduating from college, he traveled to Waco, Texas where he landed his first on-air job. After working for several years in the news department, he transitioned to the sports department after getting a job in Lawton. Prior to joining the FOX 23 sports team, he worked at KSWO-TV in Lawton, Oklahoma. During his working time there, he served the station as a sports director for three years and eleven months. He also covered the Sooners and Cowboys.

Thompson has been on the sideline for three semifinal games and three OU national championship games, and many other TU, OSU,  OU bowl games. He also covered all seven games of that amazing 2016 Western Conference Finals showdown with the Golden State Warriors and Thunder in the NBA Finals. Thompson has been the voice of the Tulsa-area Cox Communications high school football broadcasts on the YurView channel since 2013. In addition to that, he likes following the local college teams across the country, driving around Green Country reporting on area games, and getting to know local athletes and coaches. During his leisure time, he likes playing basketball and golf and watching movies and TV.
