Monica Dean is an American National Edward R. Murrow Award-winning anchor/reporter and Washington D.C. Correspondent working for NBC 7 San Diego as an Anchor/Reporter/Streaming Content Developer. She joined the station in 2004. She has been with the station for almost 20 years, therefore, she has won Emmy Awards for reports ranging from the 2007 San Diego Firestorms to the 2016 riots at the Donald Trump Rally in San Diego.

Lately, she created a year-long investigation into the exploitation of children in San Diego and sex trafficking.
She started her TV news career in 1998 working at KTTV FOX-11 News in Los Angeles behind the scenes. Later on, she worked for WCAX, the CBS affiliate in Burlington, Vermont on-air as a Washington D.C. correspondent. Since 2002, she has worked for the CBS/FOX affiliates, in Bakersfield, California, and for KBAK/KBFX-TV and also earned several awards from the Associated Press and Kern Press Club for her work.
Since August 2020 when the digital launch of “STOLEN,” her work has been recognized for “Excellence in Innovation,” with a Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) National Murrow Award, Silver and Bronze “Telly” Awards, three awards from the Society of Professional Journalists San Diego chapter, a Golden Mike Award, three Regional Murrow Awards, and four Emmy Awards.
Aside from being an Anchor/Reporter/Streaming Content Developer, she is also an accomplished motivational speaker. She often emcees galas for a list of non-profit organizations that support emergency preparedness/response, sex trafficking survivors, and children.
