Hanna is a meteorologist working for WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi. Her interest in meteorology ignited during a CNN field trip in fourth grade, where she developed a fascination for weather and broadcast meteorology. Growing up in South Carolina, experiencing various severe weather events, she transformed her fear into a passion for understanding and educating others about weather phenomena. This passion was nurtured through her involvement in community service, success in the state science fair, and her volunteer work with CoCoRaHS, collecting local weather data.
Throughout her academic journey, Megan actively pursued opportunities to deepen her knowledge and experience in meteorology. She served as a Campus Connect Student Meteorologist, interned with Nashville Severe Weather, conducted undergraduate research under Dr. Jamie Dyer, and volunteered at the 103rd AMS annual meeting. Additionally, she represented The College of Arts and Sciences as an ambassador, demonstrating her commitment to both her field of study and the campus community.
Transitioning into her career, Megan began working in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, during her final years as an undergraduate student. She recently joined Storm Team 12 in February 2024, where she looks forward to forecasting for Central Mississippi while pursuing her master’s degree in professional meteorology/climatology at Mississippi State University. Outside of her professional pursuits, Megan enjoys teaching spin classes, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, traveling, and supporting the Bulldogs.
