Washington is an anchor and reporter at NBC Bay Area in California. He anchors “Today In The Bay” and “NBC Bay Area News at 11” with Laura Garcia. Washington is also a co-host of NBC Bay Area’s Race in America: The Conversation alongside Jessica Aguirre. The show explores racial equity and social injustice and attempts to bridge the divide between backgrounds and generations.

Prior to joining the NBC Bay Area team, he worked in Baltimore, Maryland for WJZ (CBS). While there, he served the station as a reporter and anchor. During his working time there, he covered major stories where his life and approach to reporting were most deeply impacted by Freddie Gray’s death and its aftermath. He developed his love and passion for journalism at a very young age. Washington recalls sitting in his living room at the age of 5 and telling his mom that he wants to do that, referring to the work of veteran Memphis journalist Joe Birch. His career began while in college after inquiring about reading news for Memphis’ WUMR-FM morning show. On his third day of orientation, he received an invitation from the station manager to fill in to host Thursday’s 4p-7p slot. His voice impressed the station manager and he told him, “from now on, this is your slot.” From then, he became one of the hosts of Memphis’ only jazz station.

His career also took him to Memphis, Tennessee to work as an associate producer, to Charlottesville, Virginia, to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and to Nashville, Tennessee to work as a reporter, all before his working time in Baltimore.  Washington’s reporting helped him to be acknowledged by outlets like the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post and was number fourteen among “The 50 Hottest Anchors in the World” (according to Buzzfeed.com in 2017). He was also named one of “Nashville’s 25 Most Beautiful People” (per Lifestyles Magazine in 2011).
