He is an avid motorsports fan and drove open-wheel race cars, competing in the Pro Mazda National Championship. Since 1993, he has attended the Indianapolis 500 annually. Cota-Robles started his career job at KVII-TV in Amarillo as a morning news anchor in 2006.
