She co-produced and cohosted American Vets: Beyond the Battlefield, an NBCNewsNow Veterans Day streaming special highlighting the issues our veterans with PTSD face in November 2022.
She worked for WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Virginia as the weekday morning and Noon anchor before joining NBC10. That same period, she worked for La Selecta 103.3 at WVXX-FM, a Spanish-language radio station as a daily weekday morning news anchor. Before that, she worked as an evening anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans. There, she and her coworkers worked three months straight reporting the destructive post-Hurricane Katrina.
In June 2019, she anchored the explosion of the Philadelphia Energy Solutions plant in South Philly which got her honored. For being the best anchor, she earned several Associated Press awards including three regional Edward R. Murrow awards which she received in 2011 for writing a documentary explaining the Affordable Care Act in Virginia. In 2004 in New Orleans, she also received one for breaking news and in 2005 a Peabody Award for reporting Hurricane Katrina.
She traveled to Cuba to report the first gubernatorial trade trip between Havana and Louisiana under President Bush. Moreover, she co-hosted LIVE with Kelly, Regis with the late Kelly Ripa and Regis Philbin. Bustamante has a passion for serving military families and serving the Hispanic/Latinx community. She was the President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and also launched it.
