Perry is a weekday anchor from 5 a.m. alongside Adam Marshall and a noon news anchor for WHIO-TV. Her first sign to become a journalist came in third grade. She would spend much of her recess time, ‘interviewing her classmates,’ using a stick as a pretend microphone. Her first experience with broadcasting came as a student at Meadowdale High school where she auditioned and was offered a position at KMHS, our in-house school broadcast system.
Letitia went on to earn a degree. Before finishing her degree, she has offered a job at WCMU-FM; a public broadcasting facility that serves the Northern-Lower Peninsula, as well as Central Michigan. For her, one of the benefits of working full-time at CMU was the University paid for the remainder of her tuition. She had to become a part-time student, so it took her a little longer to finish her coursework to earn her degree. During her tenure, she was a member of the Minority Affairs Faculty Council. Perry also served as a Staff Advisory to the ‘Youth Ambassadors For Christ,’ student gospel choir, on campus.
After several years working at CMU, she accepted a job closer to her Dayton home, in Columbus. Letitia worked at WCBE-FM, a public radio station, licensed to the Columbus Board of Education. She then returned home to Dayton in the Fall of 1995, accepting a job at Hawes-Saunders Broadcast Properties, Inc. This marked her first professional job at a ‘commercial’ radio station. Moving home to Dayton allowed her to reconnect with friends and family, serve my community, and work in the profession she was seemingly destined to enter. After a few years delivering news at U-92 FM, she was promoted to News and Community Affairs Director.
Afterward, in 2001, Perry was invited to WHIO-TV to apply for a reporter position. She started News Center 7 in April of that year. She has worked as a General Assignment Reporter, as well as a News Anchor during her 20 years there. She is a proud member of the Dayton Area Broadcasters Hall of Fame and was inducted into the ‘Class of 2019.
