Kenny Hawkins is an American Anchor/Director working for WJHL-TV in Johnson City, Tennessee as a Sports Director. He joined the station in 1986. He also co-hosts the popular radio show “Morning Monster” on WXSM Cumulus radio 640AM three days a week.

Hawkins is a sports director for WJHL-TV. He joined the station as a videographer. After three years, he was promoted to work as the weekend sports anchor, and later in 1992, he became the WJHL Sports Director. Working at WJHL-TV’s sports department he has won numerous awards, such as the Tennessee Associated Press award for Best Sportscast and the Tennessee Associated Press award for Best Sports Video, Best Sports Talk Show, and Best Sports Story.
During Kenny’s time in high school, he helped create a high school sports show called “Sportscenter 7,” which aired on local cable stations in Oak Ridge, Oliver Springs, and Clinton, TN. While at East Tennessee State University, he interned as a nighttime DJ at WQUT-FM. In the year 2004, he claimed the Virginia Associated Press award for the best sports department, the only station to be located outside of the state of Virginia to win that honor.
Hawkins also co-hosts the popular radio show “Morning Monster” on WXSM Cumulus radio 640AM three days a week. He is heavily committed to the community. Over the years his charitable work has involved working with Doe River Gorge, Relay for Life, St. Jude’s, the United Way, Speedway Children’s Charities, and the Diabetes Association which he was co-founder/honorary chairman of the Tri-Cities chapter for Step Out Walk for Diabetes which raised over a million dollars.
Kenny has been appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, to serve on the board of directors for the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. In 2015 he was also inducted into the ETSU Communications Department Hall of Fame.
