Goodrich works as a news anchor at KPIX 5 and has performed a variety of reporting and anchoring during her time with the station. In her senior year, she was awarded the Kelly Broadcasting Scholarship and graduated with a degree in Communications at U.C. Davis. During the early 90s, she began her broadcasting career at Channel 30 in her hometown where she worked as a reporter and obtained local and national experience anchoring and reporting for news stations in Sacramento television markets and Redding, Chico.
She earned an Emmy for Best Anchor in 2008. for best Daytime Newscast for the noon show she anchors on weekdays she received an Emmy in 2009. Goodrich was awarded a Nor Cal RTNDA award for her multi-part series: “Hunger Challenge…Living on Food Stamp Budget for a Week” in 2012. She earned her fifth Emmy for her team coverage on Batkid in 2014.
Goodrich has reported a wide variety of local and national stories. For her exclusive coverage of the Bay Bridge shooting incident and her exclusive coverage of fugitive James Nivette’s capture in France, she added to her list of accomplishments with Emmy Nominations in “Breaking News” at KPIX 5. She was awarded the APTRA “Excellence in Spot News Coverage” in 2004 for her reports on the anchor desk during the Oakland Super Bowl Riots. The Women of Radio and Television Association named her Reporter of the Year in 2005.
She received an Emmy for Best Anchor in 2006 and for the 5 pm news on KPIX 5, she was awarded another Emmy for Best Newscast in 2007. After she emceed the 100th birthday celebration of the Centennial Light she was inspired to write a children’s book called “The Little Light Shines Bright.” Also, she has written four other children’s books with proceeds going to local reading programs.
Goodrich has written “I’m Special because I Smile”, (inspired by her work with Special Olympics), “The Train of Lights, ” and “Paws Goes to the Library.” She is involved in many community organizations including the Northern California Special Olympics, the American Red Cross, and the Alisa Ann Ruch Annual Burn Relay to support burn survivors in the Bay area. For the See Jane Run Breast Cancer Fund, she has competed in several triathlons.
