Ramos works as a reporter/multimedia journalist for CBS News Bay Area, KPIX 5. When he began drawing editorial cartoons and writing smart-alecky satire pieces for the Bakersfield High School newspaper he accidentally launched a lifelong career in journalism.
He took a 3-week summer job at a local TV station filling in for a graphic artist who never came back from vacation later while attending Fresno State. When he was conned into taking an assignment to create a weekly news magazine show, for which he would be the editor and sole photographer he took a turn in 1995.
He won a regional Emmy Award, an Edward R. Murrow Award, and a national Iris Award for Television Programming, and was named Associated Press Editor of the Year two years in a row. Ramos was asked to become a “Multi-Media Journalist” or MMJ in 2011 meaning he must shoot, produce, edit, and write his own stories under daily deadline pressure while working out of a van. For his Education, John enrolled at Fresno State where he graduated with Bachelor’s degree in journalism.
