While in college, he joined the Texas A&M Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society. Then, he eventually became president during his senior year. Asides from this, he was involved with the storm-chasing group, Texas Aggie Storm Chasers, and is a brother of Omega Delta Phi.

Torres works with ABC15 News where she serves the station as a Weekend Evening Meteorologist. He is quite familiar with weather coverage throughout the desert southwest. He has been in the broadcast meteorology industry for more than 10 years and started his professional career in El Paso, Texas working for KVIA-TV.
Asides from this, he has served as a Chief Meteorologist for KOB-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Torres holds both the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal and the National Weather Association’s Television Weathercaster Seal of Approval.
He has over a decade worth of experience covering all types of weather. These range from dust storms to winter weather, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, and drought. He is now focusing on the excessive heat, snowstorms that hit Arizona, and the monsoon.
He is passionate about the weather and the community. Away from work, he enjoys visiting local schools and talking to kids about the weather, climate, and science. Asides from this, he enjoys exploring the Valley, and its eateries, traveling, enjoying new spots to salsa dance, and exercising. While growing up, he was a big-time baseball fan and was rooting for Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the New York Yankees. Asides from this, he supports his Fightin’ Texas Aggies, Houston Texans, and Houston Rockets.
