Upon completion of his high school education, Holcomb went on to join Oklahoma Baptist University. After completing his undergraduate studies on May 1988, he became its alumnus with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism. Further, he attended the college via a basketball scholarship.

Holcomb serves KWTV-DT as the sports director of the News On 6 sports team since September 1999. He joined the News 9 team in November 1995. Additionally, he has served the station for more than 2 and a half decades. Further, he serves as a co-host of the statewide “Oklahoma Ford Sports Blitz” alongside News 9 Sports Director Dean Blevins on Sundays.
Moreover, he serves as a weeknight anchor of the weeknight sportscasts for News On 6 at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. During the season of high school football, he serves as an anchor of the “Oklahoma Ford Friday Football Blitz,” Tulsa’s high school football program. In addition to that, he served radio station in Shawnee, KGFF, and at the Oklahoma News Network prior to Texas.
Furthermore, he served in Sherman, Texas at KXII-TV as a news reporter since 1989. Later, in April 1991 he went on to serve KSWO-TV in Lawton as a weekend sports anchor. In January 1993, he was dubbed sports director at KFDA-TV in Amarillo, Texas. Further, he is commencing his 16th season as the radio color analyst for OSU football.
Also, he commences his 14th season as the analyst for OSU men’s basketball on the Cowboy Sports Network. To boot, he has served as a play-by-play for Cox high school football and basketball broadcasts. In 2001, 2002, 2011, and 2019 the National Sports Media Association dubbed him the Oklahoma Sportscaster of the Year.
On a side note, he enjoys basketball, golf, tennis, and, in his remarks, “about anything else that requires some coordination without total physical exhaustion. My wife, Jeanna, and I fell in love with northeastern Oklahoma and the people who live here. It’s really a privilege to work in an area of the country where there are such quality people who just happen to be so passionate about sports.”
