Moore serves KHON as the principal news anchor. He joined the station in 1978. Further, he has served the station for more than 4 decades. After enlisting in the army, he served as an Army broadcast journalist in Vietnam. However, his initial civilian career started in Hawaii in 1969 when he served KGMB as a sportscaster. Later, he migrated to the anchor desk where he served in 1980. Since then, he’s conveyed memorable events as they unfolded. For instance, Hurricanes Iwa and Iniki, the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan, and the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger to list a few.
Apart from news broadcasting, he starred in two independent motion pictures, Goodbye Paradise (1991), and Moonglow (2000). Moreover, he’s made appearances in a number of episodes of network television series based in Hawaii. For instance, Hawaii Five-O, Magnum P.I, Jake and the Fat Man, One West Waikiki, and Tour of Duty. Also, he’s starred in live theatrical productions. Alongside his longtime friend, television host Pat Sajak, he starred in the Neil Simon play The Odd Couple in 2001 and 2012 at the Connecticut Repertory Theatre.
Further, he’s produced and written plays such as Will Rogers Returns, The Buck Stops Where? A Conversation with Mozart, John Wayne: The Man Behind the Legend, The Heydrich Covenant, The Best Show in America: Will Rogers on Politics, Dirty Laundry, Unlikely Lawman, and Righteous Revenge. When he’s not working, he acts on stage, writes for the theatre, watches plays and movies, and listens to music. Previously, he served as a host of a weekly Mozart program on Hawaii Public Radio.
