Ranieri is an Emmy award-winning Meteorologist at NBC Bay Area in California. He serves the station as a Chief Meteorologist appearing on NBC Bay Area Monday through Friday at 5, 6, and 11 p.m. His passion is for forecasting the complex microclimates of the Bay Area. temperatures in a 35-mile radius can range from 50° to 100°. Prior to joining the NBC Bay Area team, he worked at KCRA 3 & My58 Television in Sacramento, California. During his working time there, he served as a Meteorologist for four years. His career also took him to Oregon and Florida where he worked as a reporter, anchor, and meteorologist.
He managed to turn sports into weather while covering the San Francisco Giants 2010 quest for the World Series Championship. Ranieri is well-known for his personality-driven live remote forecasts from locations and events all over the Bay Area. He likes sliding on the ice with Kristi Yamaguchi and golfing at Pebble Beach. Ranieri enjoys being involved and active in the community. He is currently working Safeway Holiday Food Drive and Silicon Valley’s CAMP / AREAA Annual Holiday Charity Fundraiser, San Francisco SPCA “Clear The Shelters Event”, SF Project Open Hand, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley, and also “Fly” Fresh Lifelines For Youth.
Apart from occasional live feature reporting and Chief Meteorologist position, he also served as the “Olympic Zone” host during the London, Sochi, Rio & PyeongChang games. He also likes taking fans to some of the top stories and highlights during the half-hour shows. He has continued contributing to NBC Network coverage. These include reporting on the 6.0 Napa Earthquake and the tsunami warning for the entire West Coast, heading back East to track Hurricane Irene.
Prior to joining NBC Bay Area, he worked as a correspondent for NBC News & MSNBC, he was based in New York City with NBC News. During that time, he worked as a Weekend Today Show Meteorologist and Early Today. He covered a wide range of major weather events from the field and from the studio. These stories include the historic Midwest flooding and Hurricane Katrina in Biloxi, Mississippi. In addition to that, he traveled to Beijing and Torino to cover the 2006 and 2008 Olympic Games. Currently, he holds the American Meteorological Seal of Approval.
