Weather aside, he serves the community and the state as a host, participant, and an Mc for multiple happenings. Prior to FOX 54, he served WRDW-TV and WAGT-TV. Later, in 2015 he went on to weather a corporate purchase storm. Briefly, the news team was put on WJBF-TV mid-storm. When the storm withdrew, he and more than 30 of his co-workers realized themselves jobless.
To the shock and confusion of the community, he vanished in April 2016. Further, he disappeared from TV for half a year. Jeffries was ill and went to three hospitals resulting in heart surgery and a mini-stroke. Now, via speeches and features, he shares his story and utilizes his encounter to bring awareness to heart disease and strokes.
In addition, he is an awarded meteorologist who has been praised nationally, regionally, and locally. Furthermore, in 2014 and 2015 Augusta Magazine awarded him “Best Weather.” In 2015 and 2016, Metro Spirit awarded him “Best TV Personality.” The Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Augusta Chapter awarded him the “Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer Award.”
To boot, the Augusta West Rotary Club awarded him the Louis Harris Award. Famed for his well-known beat, “Where in Augusta is Jay Jefferies”, he was excited to be asked by the Weather Channel to make an appearance in an episode of “America Super Natural.” Moreover, he links all that he has experienced to a quote he loves, “Faith in God includes Faith in God’s timing.” On a side note, he loves golfing, going to the movies, and spending quality time with his family.
