Dickey is a meteorologist working for WCIA. He participated in the Starkville, Mississippi, FFA Alumni chapter and spoke as the keynote speaker at the 2018 Mississippi FFA State Convention. Jacob also collaborated with the state officers of the Mississippi FFA Foundation to create resources and programs for nearby FFA chapters. Jacob worked as a weekend and field meteorologist for WCBI-tv in Columbus, Mississippi, for three years until February 2020, when he moved back to WCIA 3 News.

Before returning to Central Illinois, he worked as the interim Chief Meteorologist for KSWO 7 News in Southwest Oklahoma. While working at WCBI, Jacob was involved in expanding the station’s internet and social media presence with a focus on severe weather awareness and readiness. Throughout some of the worst tornado outbreaks in Mississippi, he also chased storms for the station in the field.

The three most notable hurricanes and tropical storms that Jacob has seen were Hurricane Matthew in Daytona Beach, Florida, Hurricane Florence in Wilmington, North Carolina, and Category 5 Hurricane Michael in the Florida Panhandle. He has witnessed numerous tornadoes and severe storms across the country over the past 15 years. Dickey has also worked as an intern for various TV meteorologists, such as Chief Meteorologist Damon Lane at KOCO-tv in Oklahoma City and Chief Meteorologist James Spann at ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Jacob enjoys being outside a lot. He enjoys playing beach volleyball, kayaking, biking, running, and general exercise. Jacob loves sports, no matter where the teams are playing. He supports the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Oklahoma State Cowboys. Additionally, he loves to bake and cook, as well as dine at neighborhood restaurants. Jacob also enjoys traveling, reading, and keeping a close eye on the skies.
