Cergol moved from News 12 Long Island, where he spent nine years as a reporter and anchor, to NBC 4 New York. Furthermore, Queens-native Cergol began his career in radio, working at stations on Long Island, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Omaha, Nebraska, and for the NBC Radio Network. Cergol, who is a member of the Long Island Press Club Hall of Fame, was also given the title “Journalist of the Year” by the Press Club in recognition of his work and contributions. He was honored by the NYS Broadcaster’s Association, the Associated Press, the Long Island Fair Media Council, and other organizations in addition to receiving the “General’s Award” from the US Army Reserves.
