Ong is a reporter and Multi-Media Journalist for KRON4. She joined the station as a video journalist. Being a Bay Area native she is thrilled to be back home. Before joining KRON4, she lived and worked as a journalist in New York State both in front of the camera and behind the scenes for almost 9 years.
Gayle recently lived upstate and worked as a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor/producer at WETM-TV in Elmira, N.Y. She covered the beautiful Finger Lakes region, known for its state parks and award-winning wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Ong also covered the world of professional auto racing, including NASCAR. She got to ride along with many professional race car drivers.
Ong’s most memorable ride was behind the wheel of an Indy car hitting triple-digit speeds with racing legend Mario Andretti. Before working at WETM-TV, she lived and worked in New York City at the nationally syndicated news magazine show, Inside Edition. While there she was an associate producer for their promotions department whereby Gayle wrote and produced on-air promos and pre-show teases.
Prior to that, she worked for Fox News Channel, as a production assistant and also worked in promos. While attending college, she started her first job in television news at News 12 The Bronx and News 12 Brooklyn as an assignment editor. Ong also held internships at WABC-TV and OK! TV, another nationally syndicated show.
