Chaloux joined KSTP 5 Eyewitness News in March of 2015, following his tenure at KCTV5 News, where he started as a general assignment reporter in December 2002. During his time at KCTV5, he swiftly became an integral part of the award-winning investigative unit. Prior to KCTV5, Eric held similar roles at various stations, including KSPR-TV in Springfield, MO, and KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO.
Eric’s impactful investigations have prompted legislative action to safeguard Minnesota families. Notably, his discovery that the state did not mandate schools to test drinking water for lead resulted in the passing of a law addressing this issue. His decade-long stint in Kansas City involved exposing legal, crime, and political stories. Eric earned recognition, including the Edward R. Murrow Award, for an investigative series shedding light on significant matters such as unpaid bills and questionable collection practices by a local public utility.
Two undercover investigations by Eric revealed flaws in state sales tax collection programs, leading to corrective legislation in Missouri and Kansas. These pieces garnered the Missouri Broadcaster’s Association award for the best news series in 2011. In 2013, the Missouri Senate honored Eric for his role in uncovering welfare fraud. His outstanding investigative reporting also earned him an Emmy Award. Before his television career, Chaloux served as a radio play-by-play and sports announcer covering high school and college teams in New England. Additionally, he hosted a weekly music radio show that reached audiences in New England and parts of Canada.
