Ed Drantch is an American Anchor/Reporter working for WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York as a morning anchor and an investigative reporter. He joined the station in October 2014. He previously worked at Reel Talent in Buffalo, New York, United States as a Talent Coach.

Drantch is a morning anchor for WKBW-TV on Good Morning Buffalo and is part of their I-Team, working as an investigative reporter. Working with the morning show team, he is a two-time New York State Regional Emmy Award winner for coverage of deadly tornadoes in 2017 in Western New York. He is also race-related protests and fallout in 2020.
Ed is part of the team that was awarded by the New York State Broadcasters Association the “Best Morning Show.” What is most important to him is the “Buffalo Strong spirit” and community. He serves on the Board of Directors for GLYS WNY, where he works to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ children in their area. He also owns his own business, Reel Talent, where he works to mentor and coach student journalists along with journalists who are working in smaller markets.
Since 2014 when Drantch joined 7 Eyewitness News, he has covered many memorable stories affecting Western New Yorkers, such as the historic November snowstorm. He has also done several investigations that have sparked change, such as the exposure of security shortfalls at the only hospital in Niagara Falls. In 2016 he covered the 2016 election Presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton at Hofstra University.
Before joining the 7 News Ed worked at News 4 WIVB-TV. While working at News 4 for three years, he was nominated for a story on race relations in the City of Buffalo. He was also recognized by the New York State Associated Press for outstanding work. He was then awarded a special mention for Excellence in 2013 in Individual Reporting.
Prior to moving to Buffalo in 2011, Drantch worked in Harrisonburg, Virginia for three years. While at WHSV-TV, he was part of the award-winning “Daybreak” morning show. He also worked on WHSV News 3 at Noon as an anchor and producer. Before going to Virginia he worked for FOX 5, WNYW – the FOX flagship station in New York City as an online correspondent.
Ed built a foundation for his career, learning and using social media and other online tools to connect with viewers spending nearly a year in online journalism. He attended the final Presidential Debate in 2008 at Hofstra University. He was not only covering the event for the station’s website but also did live blogging for the entire Fox Interactive Media platform, garnering him national attention.
Being a graduate of communications and Media Studies from the State University of New York College at Oneonta, Drantch spent months interning in New York City at WABC-TV the ABC flagship station before his senior year.
