Drew Anderson is an American Meteorologist working at Fox29 News. The year 1997 saw him help give the weather forecast right here on FOX29. This was when Good Day Philadelphia went on the road. Then, they put him twice, down the shore and in his hometown of West Chester, PA.

He began his career in weather at an early age when he was in his third-grade class. A year later, he was majoring in meteorology at Penn State. Later in 2008, another meteorologist, Kathy Orr from Fox 29 helped shape his career. He was very lucky to learn from her as an intern. Later, in a year’s time, Kathy was very proud to see him working as an intern for ESPN ESPN’s College GameDay.

After his years in College, he spent a few years working at the NBC in Lancaster, PA, WBRE, the NBC in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and at WGAL. Among his duties would include tossing back to Weekend TODAY. This is where he met a very good meteorologist named Scott Williams. This is as Scott would fill in on Weekend TODAY.

Later, he left WBRE to work as a meteorologist for weekday morning weather at FOX43, in York, PA. While there, the bosses loved Drew and therefore gave him an opportunity of being the Jennaphr Frederick of FOX43. After channeling Jenn’s amazing talents, he would do fun and interactive community reports. For several years, Drew did live interviews riding a bike, climbing a rock wall, roller skating, among others.

In addition, he took FOX43’s news wireless to live report technology to new heights. This is as he reported live from a hot air balloon that was floating across Lancaster County. In addition, he did live reports from boats, planes, moving trains, and cars.

Later, Drew did weekend morning and evening weather for WFMZ, in Allentown, PA. There, the bosses admired his science reporting and space. This led to them promoting him to a morning show as a science anchor. As he was consistently nominated for Emmy awards, His science and weather work was able to earn him an award from AccuWeather and the American Meteorological Society’s prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal.

Away from the Television, Drew serves the community through teaching. He is best known for his innovation in the classroom. In relation to this, technology and teaching conferences frequently ask him to lead talks and workshops. The year 2017 saw him getting awarded by Penn State the teaching excellence award.

Till today, “Professor Anderson” has taught over fifty courses in person. In addition, he has also taught online classes which have focused on severe weather, weather that changed history, natural disasters, earth science, geography, sustainability, communications, the how’s and why’s of weather, and risk management. As he taught many courses at Penn State, currently he teaches meteorology and earth science at West Chester University. While there, he does a lot of research in sustainability and science communication.

As his Weather Authority colleagues, he loves inspiring the next generation of meteorologists. Anderson remembers when Sue Serio visited his middle school for a weather talk. Away from work, he enjoys traveling. Anderson has visited every Canadian province, every continent, and several states. Among his most unforgettable visits and experiences includes a visit to Antarctica where he was leading science expeditions.
