Currin works as an evening anchor at ABC Columbia. He is an Associated Press award-winning journalist and an Emmy, Edward R. Murrow whose work has taken him from being embedded all around the U.S. and in the war in Iraq. For 18 years he has reported almost every aspect of momentous journalism. He was in the Great Smoky Mountains prior to working in the Midlands, then for eight years in Waco, Texas, and for the day’s flagship newscasts was the principal evening anchor and managing editor.
He steered coverage for several nationally reported breaking news stories while at Channel 6 including the Twin Peaks massacre, TX fertilizer plant explosion, the second Ft. Hood shootings, the Dallas, TX shootings the Dallas, TX shootings, the West, and a local hospital explosion. His political report was unrivaled in reporting retired President Bill Clinton’s role in a local election scandal.
He had the opportunity to interview the retired Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, leading figure in the Civil Rights Movement Vernon Jordan, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel-al Jubeir, John Cornyn, Senators Ted Cruz, and many other national and international leaders including lawmakers working on Capitol Hill for dozens of states during his storied career.
Currin’s work was noted in a national political documentary. In Fayetteville, Arkansas, he reported several Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Northwest Arkansas including Tyson Foods, Walmart Stores, and more. He worked for Wolf Blitzer at CNN in Washington, D.C as a producer before moving into local news. In Washington, D.C. he reported the death of Saddam Hussein, and other national and international stories.
In the Washington, D.C., and New York City areas where he began broadcasting. He is an alumnus of George Mason University just outside of Washington, DC, and is presently an invited guest lecturer on the political economy of media.
