Jones is a meteorologist for FOX 8 News at 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. Growing up he had a chance to experience everything from copious amounts of lake-effect snow to searing summers with severe thunderstorms. It was those thunderstorms that sparked his interest in the weather. He has always been a news junkie, even at an early age, he wanted to be a News Anchor. He, therefore, decided he would blend his love for weather and anchoring to become a Broadcast Meteorologist.
After graduating from college, Dontae worked for The Ohio News Network, based in Columbus as a Weekend Meteorologist. After working with ONN, he accepted a position for WNCT-TV9 in Greenville, North Carolina (near the Outer Banks) to work as the Weekday Morning and Noon Meteorologist. While working there he had the chance to track hurricanes and other tropical systems.
Jones covered the historic flooding events that were produced by Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane Florence. After spending years in eastern North Carolina, covering hurricanes, tropical systems, and ice storms, he felt the call to come back home to the Buckeye State and the Birthplace of Aviation. While working at WHIO, he forecasted, reported, and surveyed tornado damage across the Miami Valley. He also covered the historic outbreak of tornadoes on Memorial Day 2019.
