Prior to joining the FOX 2 Detroit weather team, he worked for WWL-TV in New Orleans. During his working time there, he served the station as a meteorologist for four years from December 2009 to December 2013.
While in college, he interned at Fox 2 News. From there, his career began in Medford, OR at KDRV. While there, he worked as a morning meteorologist. He served there for two years and seven months prior to heading to New Orleans. Kevra says studying Tropical Meteorology in school helped him prepare for the extensive severe weather coverage they had during hurricane season. During Hurricane Isaac in 2012, it made landfall less than 100 miles south of New Orleans and they were on air 24 hours a day for 5 consecutive days. The event showed him the true power of Mother Nature.
The American Meteorological Society awarded Kevra with the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal. The seal shows that the holder meets specific educational and experience criteria and has passed rigorous testing in their knowledge and communication of meteorology and related sciences needed to be an effective broadcast meteorologist. During his leisure time, he likes spending time with his wife and kids and a dog and traveling Up North.
