Ono has trained with the elite Los Angeles Sheriff’s SWAT team as well as the FBI. He happened to be called by President Obama for an exclusive interview in the White House. Ono has twice witnessed white smoke at the Vatican, in 2013 for the selection of Pope Francis and in 2005 for the selection of Pope Benedict the 16th.

Throughout his career, he has worked for KOSA in Midland/Odessa, KDBC in El Paso, and also KOVR in Sacramento. Apart from his journalism career, he has also produced several documentaries chronicling the Asian American and immigrant experience including the “Napalm girl” from the Vietnam War and the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II.
