David Molko’s Career
Molko is an evening news anchor at KGW. He joined the team after living and working outside the U.S. for nearly ten years, lately as Senior Reporter for CTV News in Vancouver, Canada. For his investigation into the operator of an unlicensed daycare where a 16-month-old boy died, he won a Regional Edward R. Murrow award.
He is a Southern California native who graduated with a degree in Economics and Political Science. Molko is a graduate of Columbia University in New York. After having a one-on-one with the boy’s parents he sparked changes to regulations that increased transparency and enforcement around childcare providers, impacting millions of families.
In 2016 he transitioned to Canada but before that, he was based at CNN’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong, where he covered some of the biggest breaking news stories in the region including Indonesia’s haze crisis, the death of Singapore’s Lee Kwan Yew, the crash of Air Asia 8501, the Hong Kong pro-democracy protests and the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines MH370.
Molko has produced more than a dozen half-hour news and feature specials on location for CNN, such as; the Philippines, A Nuclear Iran: The Expert Intel, Japan, Future Cities: Singapore, Innovative Cities, On China, Talk Asia, a documentary special hosted by Christiane Amanpour and CNN Business Traveller episodes in China and editions of On The Road in India, Singapore.
His transition to Asia followed five years as a Senior Producer at CNN International headquarters in Atlanta, where he produced breaking news, news specials seen by hundreds of millions of viewers in more than 150 countries around the world, and live news programming
He also produced and wrote for WNYW-TV in New York and WCBS-TV. Molko started his journalism career at MSNBC as a Researcher. Molko is an avid skier and stand-up paddleboarder, he holds U.S. and Canadian Citizenship, studied Arabic and Japanese, and speaks French.
