After graduating from Steven’s Point University in Wisconsin in the early 80s, he joined the National Park Service and fulfilled his dream of becoming a Park Ranger. During that time, he patrolled the waters of a recreation area in Washington state. From there he joined Texas A&M University and pursued his master’s degree in Park Planning and Design.
During his post-graduate, he began working in both Texas radio and TV after taking a detour into local news broadcasting. After a period of time, a weekend TV news anchor opening brought him to Lansing in 1986. Andrews likes being active and involved in the community including working with the Humane Society to the Children’s Miracle Network.
He has been involved in several non-profit organizations especially raising money and awareness for the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan and Special Olympics Michigan. For three years he has served on the Michigan Community Service Commission with the approval of Governor Rick Snyder. In addition to that, he has worked with a faith-based recovery house in Lansing for men trying to reclaim their lives from addiction on the board of directors of Endeavor House Ministries.
Andrews works very to broaden his volunteer efforts so that his notoriety and voice can benefit the community. He hopes to be recalled as a humble person whose compassion for helping others is never overshadowed by his personality.
