Dave Crawley is an American / Anchor/Author /Reporter working for  CBS Pittsburgh/KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States as a reporter. He joined the station in 1988. He previously worked for WMTV-TV in Madison, Wisconsin as a news anchor and reporter.

Crawley is a Reporter for CBS Pittsburgh/KDKA-TV.  He has visited many towns and has enjoyed learning about community activities and interests throughout his career and has taped more than 5,000 stories. He also wrote and produced a highly acclaimed documentary “Celebrating 50 Years in their Hometowns.” Prior to joining KDKA, he worked in Madison, Wisconsin at WMTV-TV as a  news anchor and reporter.

Throughout Dave’s career, he has been awarded numerous awards. He has an Edward R. Murrow Award for broadcast news writing and won 13 Emmy awards, including “Outstanding Feature Reporter” in the Mid-Atlantic states. He has also received the “Bill Burns Award” for journalistic excellence at the 2014 Art Rooney Award Dinner. He is an active member of many local organizations including the celebrity chairman of walkathons sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association and other groups. He is also the author of a book titled Sidelights on Wisconsin.

As a known rhyming story on KDKA, Crawley has branched out into children’s literature. His first book, the critically-acclaimed Cat Poems honors our feline friends. Dog Poems being his second book, was selected by the Bank Street Children’s Book Committee as one of “The best Children’s Books of the Year”. His book of school poems, Reading, Rhyming and ‘Rithmetic received a starred review (“Highly Recommended”) from the Library Media Connection. His fourth book of children’s poetry is titled “Crawley Bugs.” As the title suggests, it’s a book of insects, spiders, and their kin.

Dave also has numerous poems in ten anthologies: including I Invited a Dragon to Dinner,  If Kids Ruled the School, Lady Bug, Miles of Smiles, Peter Peter Pizza Eater, Lady Bug, Pound A Poem, Rolling in the Aisles, What I Did On My Summer Vacation, and My Teacher’s In Detention. He has also published dozens of poems in 13 national children’s magazines, including “Jack and Jill,” “Cricket,” and “Ranger Rick.”

Crawley won the 2013 “March Madness of Children’s Poetry,” finishing number one in a competition of leading children’s poets around the world.  He makes frequent appearances at area schools, reading his rhymes to poets of the future. During his free time, he enjoys meeting people in the hometowns of the Tri-State Area and traveling.
