The National Hispanic Media Coalition honored her in 2018 with a coveted Impact Award for “Excellence in Broadcast Journalism” for her coverage of Puerto Rico’s recovery and her dedication to the community.

Rodriguez has covered many of the Tri-State’s most notable stories throughout his twenty years at NBC 4 New York. Included in this are the Amadou Diallo police shooting in 1999, the 9/11 attacks, and the crash of Flight 587 in Queens when it was on its way to the Dominican Republic. When news of the fights between locals and the U.S. Navy emerged, Rodriguez was the first Tri-State television reporter on the scene in Vieques, Puerto Rico. She later made four additional trips to report on the ensuing developments. To cover Pope John Paul II’s meeting with American Cardinals about the sex abuse problem in the Catholic Church, Rodriguez has also traveled to Rome.

She also went to Cuba in 2015 to cover Pope Francis’ visit there. She subsequently received a New York Emmy® nomination for her in-person reporting from Cuba.
