Wiggins serves as the weekend morning anchor and lead reporter for WKYC’s Education Station content, a position she has held since the summer of 2023. Aside from her TV duties, Danielle was instrumental in creating, hosting, and producing the station’s “Rising” initiative. This program shared the inspiring stories of individuals in Northeast Ohio who overcame obstacles to achieve success.

Motivating others to do the same. In 2018, Danielle received recognition for her work, including a regional Emmy Award and a Salute to Excellence Award from the National Association of Black Journalists. For an episode of “Rising” featuring a teenager with cerebral palsy who pursued his passion for organized basketball.

Danielle’s journalistic prowess extends beyond television, as evidenced by her receipt of a 2022 Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women In Media. This honor was for her report on two ministry leaders in Northeast Ohio, from different racial backgrounds. Who collaborated on reconciliation efforts following the tragic killing of George Floyd. The following year, Danielle was honored with another Gracie Award for On-Air Talent [TV – Local] after bravely sharing her breast cancer diagnosis with viewers. She used her platform to advocate for breast self-examinations, mammograms, and other health screenings both on-air and within the community.

Before joining 3News in 2013 as the morning traffic reporter, Danielle made her mark as the main producer. Additionally, correspondent for “The Regina Brett Show” on 89.7 WKSU, Northeast Ohio’s regional NPR affiliate. Moreover, under Danielle’s leadership, the show garnered multiple state and national awards, including an Ohio Excellence in Journalism award for best radio show.

Additional accolades for the Northeast Ohio native include being chosen by the Cuyahoga County Section of the National Council of Negro Women for their “Dynamic Voices for Our Community in Broadcast Journalism” award in 2023. She was also recognized as one of Cleveland’s Most Interesting People by Cleveland Magazine in 2017. Additionally, Kent State University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication (now known as the School of Media and Journalism) honored Danielle as their 2015. Moreover, the “Fast Track Award” recipient, is given to alumni who demonstrate early and significant career achievements.

Danielle is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and the National Association of Black Journalists. Furthermore, she participated in the Gwen Ifill Mentorship Program through the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) as a Fellow in 2020.
