She began her first job as a news director and anchor at the Campbellsville, KY Fox affiliate, WGRB-TV. Afterward, she moved on to work as a news reporter at WLKY-TV in Louisville before joining WAVE News as a news and sports reporter. Afterward, Connie became the WAVE 3-weekend anchor and co-anchored WAVE News Sunrise each weekday morning alongside Brian Shlonsky. She currently serves as a Troubleshooter investigator focusing on consumer advocacy.

Connie has traveled extensively for WAVE News whereby she covered the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Leonard has provided extensive NCAA Tournament coverage of the University of Louisville, the University of Kentucky, and Indiana University. She also covered when she traveled with Tim Couch to New York when he was nominated for the Heisman Trophy, visited Boise State with the Louisville Cardinals in the Humanitarian Bowl, and Kentucky’s football battle with Penn State in the Outback Bowl.

Leonard even followed former UofL football coach John L. Smith to Pamplona, Spain for the Running of the Bulls. She has also covered many Kentucky Derbys and traveled to Gulf Stream Park in 1999 for the Breeders’ Cup.  Connie also brought us to live reports from the Belmont Stakes in Elmont, NY in 1999 for Charismatic’s failed bid for the Triple Crown.
