Smith is a reporter and anchor at NBC Bay Area in California. She serves the station as a general assignment reporter. Smith reports weekdays for Today in the Bay, NBC Bay Area’s morning news program. Prior to joining the NBC Bay Area News team, she worked in the East Bay at night for several years. Most of the time she is asked, “What time do you get up?” and her answer has always been, at 2:30 in the morning. She enjoys working at NBC Bay Area Station, and she appears at 11 am and from 4:30 am to 7 am.
Her journalism career began in Medford, Oregon working on-camera news career as a reporter and anchor. After some time there, she headed to Sacramento to work for KCRA-TV. During her working time there, she served the station as a reporter for three years. In addition to that, she covered national stories including a tragic school shooting just outside of San Diego and the Yosemite Sightseer Murders. Her career did not place her in one place, she also made stops in Chicago at WFLD-TV and in Monterey at KCCN-TV working as a producer and news writer.
In 2002, Christie had the opportunity to cover the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. “That was incredible seeing people from different countries and hearing all the interesting languages.”
