Afterward, she joined Eastern Connecticut State University where she acquired her undergraduate degree in Communications and Political Science. Later on, after graduating from Eastern, Carmen joined Quinnipiac University where she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Carmen Chau Career
Chau is a Saturday night news anchor for FOX61 News at 10 pm and 11 pm. She joined the station as a nightside reporter. While attending Eastern Connecticut State University Carmen was heavily involved with the campus’s TV news station known as News 22. Having it as her first taste of the fast-paced broadcasting world and she was sure that it was exactly what she wanted to do. She reported, anchored, and also did behind-the-scenes work.
After graduating from Eastern, Carmen went to Quinnipiac University. Chau was lucky to have some of the most talented and inspiring professors whom she now considers her mentors. While in her last year of graduate school, she did an in-depth, multi-media piece on the controversies surrounding autism, where she interviewed two of her friends who carried this disability. Her graduate project had a lasting impact on her as she was able to understand the challenges they endure on a regular basis. Carmen also participated in several Autism 5 Walks/Runs throughout Connecticut to help raise money for several organizations.
Chau began her first TV reporting job at WHAG-TV in Hagerstown, Maryland. Carmen worked as a multi-media reporter for three years and also anchored and produced weekend morning newscasts. In 2015 she then moved to News 10 in Albany, New York where she covered breaking news stories on the 10 pm and 11 pm newscasts and was later hired at FOX61.
During her free time, Carmen enjoys doing yoga, spending time with her mom, with whom she is very close, going for runs outside, and catching up on the latest shows on Netflix.
